Postponement of the Virtus Ski World Championships to March 2023.
See you in Seefeld in Tyrol.
The Virtus Ski World Championships for people with mental disabilities planned for March 2022 in the Seefeld Olympic Region will be postponed by exactly one year and will take place from March 11 to 17, 2023 in the Seefeld Olympic Region.
In Austria as well as in large parts of Europe, the measures to combat the pandemic and the associated regulations were adapted again at the beginning of this week. Therefore, some nations had to withdraw their participation in Seefeld.
The decision of the local organization team around Secretary General Paula Grameiser-Scherl was by no means easy.
We would like to make fair and safe competitions possible for the athletes as well as offer an unforgettable social program for all participants. Unfortunately, this is not feasible in the current situation. Therefore, together with the international federation for athletes with intellectual disabilities, it was decided to postpone the event until next year. The previous efforts of the LOC, the support of the ÖBSV as well as all partners will in any case be conserved for next year and in the best case optimized.
LOC chief Werner Frießer, the sponsors Marlies and Benjamin Reich for the alpine competitions, as well as Mario Stecher and David Kreiner for cross-country skiing, and René Schönberger from the Competence Committee for Mentally Disabled Sports of the ÖBSV have already confirmed their commitment to hosting the Virtus Ski World Championships next year.
